PHILIPPINE Drug Enforcement Agency officials yesterday led the destruction of an estimated P3.74 billion worth of seized drugs and chemicals and precursors being used to manufacture shabu in a special facility in Cavite.
PDEA chair, Director General Aaron N. Aquino, said the latest destruction thru thermal decomposition of the confiscated drug evidence is in line with Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 which compels the destruction of seized dangerous drugs to prevent possible recycling.
Thermal decomposition or thermolysis is a process of which chemicals are being broken down by heat.
During the ceremonies, a total of 498.52 kilograms of dangerous drugs were destroyed at the Integrated Waste Management in Barangay Aguado in Trece Martires City, Cavite.
The destruction of the drugs which include shabu, marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, ephedrine, ketamine, diazepam, nitrazepam, nalbin, dormicum, ephedrine methamphetamine, mephentermine, midazolam, mogadon, toluene, expired medicines, 9,589.00 milliliters of liquid shabu, and 19 milliliters of acetone was authorized by different courts.
