FOR presenting a passport with a fake Philippine visa, a Pakistani was arrested by Bureau of Immigration (BI) personnel assigned at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.
BI Port Operations Division Chief Grifton Medina identified the Pakistani as Salman Khan, 25. He was intercepted last Monday at the immigration departure area of the said terminal.
Medina said Khan is an overstaying alien who attempted to illegally leave the country before he was offloaded from his flight.
“The immigration officer became suspicious of his documents and his demeanor, so he was referred for secondary inspection to members of the BI’s Travel Control and Enforcement Unit (TCEU),” Medina said, adding that it was during the investigation that the Philippine visa on the Pakistani’s passport was confirmed by the BI’s forensic document laboratory to be counterfeit.
Meanwhile, BI-TCEU Chief Erwin Ortañez, in a report to Commissioner Jaime Morente, said that Khan’s passport also contained a fake BI departure stamp purportedly showing that he arrived in the country on November 18 last year, through a fake Philippine visa that was supposedly issued last October 10, 2018.
