A PARKING aide at Manila’s South Harbor accused of robbery-extortion was arrested by agents of the National Capital Region Police Office’s Regional Special Operations Unit during an entrapment operation Saturday.
Suspect Danilo Baltazar, 47, of South Harbor Expanded Port Zone in Manila, was arrested after he received the marked money from complainant Carol Carmen who claimed that the suspect had been extorting money from her since 2017.
NCRPO director Major General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said their investigation showed that in 2016, the complainant figured in a mauling case involving her Chinese friend identified only as ‘Jem’.
‘Jem’ reportedly hired someone to maul a Filipina named ‘Cez’ in exchange for P250,000 for the job.
Shortly after the incident, the complainant said she started receiving text messages from unknown number demanding money in exchange for her silence in the reported mauling incident.
The complainant claimed that she had paid the caller a total of P1.5 million from 2017 up to present, the money received by different individuals who were believed to have knowledge of the mauling.
The last straw came when the complainant again received a call from another caller who asked her to pay him P250,000 or he would reveal the incident to the police.
