Pasay goes hard after curfew violators

THE Pasay City police intensified their efforts in arresting curfew and health protocol violators to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In his report to Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, city police chief P/Col. Cesar Paday-Os said they arrested 448 curfew violators from, March 12 to March 16, or in less than three days.

Paday-os noted that most of those arrested claim they merely went out of their houses to buy something while others said they did not know that new and earlier curfew hours are being observed.

Marami pa rin po ang nagpapalusot kahit alam na nila na may bagong curfew na pinatutupad ay talagang lumalabas pa rin sila ng bahay para gumala kahit walang importanteng dahilan,” Paday-os said.

The mayor issued last week Executive Order ICR No. 33, Series of 2021, imposing a ‘curfew from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. effective March 12, 2021 until the duration of the General Community Quarantine…’ pursuant to and in compliance with Metro Manila Council resolution seeking a stop in the spread of the virus.

Mayor Emi said that there is an urgent need to strictly impose the curfew hour to discourage people from going out and minimize the risk of contracting the disease.

Nakikusap po ako sa ating mga minamahal na mga kababayan na sumunod tayo sa mga patakarang pinaiiral upang mapigilan na ang pagkalat ng sakit na ito na matagal ng nagpapahirap sa atin,” Mayor Emi said.

Mayor Emi added that this is the best time for the public to cooperate and do its share of responsibility for the benefit of everyone.

Those who will arrested for violating curfew hours for the first time will be recorded in the blotters of the barangay where they were nabbed. For second offense, they will be fined P3,000 while for third offense, they will be fined P5,000.

All those arrested will be issued citation tickets issued by the Office of the City Treasurer and must pay the fine within 24 hours to avoid being criminally prosecuted.
