PASIG City Mayor Vico Sotto yesterday created a complaint desk where city residents can air their grievances and complaints against erring government employees and personnel.
The complaint desk called” Ugnayan sa Pasig Unit”, was put up to recognize the importance of the public’s right to information.
The “Ugnayan sa Pasig Unit” aims to provide the public with assistance in accessing public documents on various government services, projects and transactions.
Among the services which may be availed of at “Ugnayan sa Pasig Unit” are information on city government personnel, budget, programs, and projects, market operations, status of various permits/applications, health center and more.
In addition, Hotline 643-0000 will receive calls 24/7 and will immediately relay the concern to the appropriate offices or department for immediate action.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has created a new interim office that will oversee and strengthen the agency’s disaster and emergency preparedness and response efforts in the National Capital Region.
MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim created the Metropolitan Public Safety Office (MPSO) to integrate and consolidate all units of the Agency undertaking similar functions or tasks related to disaster and emergency preparedness and response.
“It will conform to one of the agency’s mandates of Public Safety, which includes the formulation and implementation of programs and policies and procedures to achieve public safety, especially preparedness for preventive or rescue operation during times of calamities and disasters, such as conflagrations, earthquake, flood and tidal waves,” Lim cited in an office order.
The new office is headed by Michael Salalima, also the concurrent Chief of Staff, OGM and Focal Person for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, and composed five units including Public Safety Division,. Road Emergency Group, Metro Manila Emergency Volunteer Corps, Metro Manila Crisis Monitoring and Management Center and Rescue Battalion Headquarters & Disaster Preparedness Training Center.
