VARIOUS jewelry and precious stones were intercepted by the Bureau of Customs (BoC) from an arriving passenger at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Ronald Arzadon, currently Customs operations officer and supervisor at the NAIA 3 arrival area, stated in his report to Customs deputy collector for passenger services Atty. Lourdes Mangaoang that the jewelry and stones amounting to an equivalent of P71 million was brought in by one Kwun Yi Tsoi who arrived with six companions.
Said items were intercepted after being detected in the passenger’s luggage by Customs examiner Claire Mojica. All passengers are aged between 25 and 35 and came from Hong Kong.
Arzadon said the passenger was made to pay a total of P61 million, the biggest final tax payment made in a single receipt so far.
