PNP shifts security coverage to tourist destinations

Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will shift their security coverage from guarding travellers during the Holy week to securing tourist destinations including malls and shopping centers in Metro Manila frequented by the public.

NCRPO Director Major Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said the redeployment of the bulk of their personnel from foot patrols to the various establishments and places of convergence will ensure the welfare of the public against criminals.

“With the end of the Holy Week break, we are expecting many tourists would come to Metro Manila especially the shopping malls that’s why we should enhance the security coverage, including the deployment of additional policemen,” Eleazar said.

Eleazar clarified that the shift would not affect the security posture on bus terminals, seaports and airports for the thousands of returning Metro Manila residents after spending their Lenten break in the provinces.
