TWO were killed in a shootout with police yesterday before dawn in Caloocan City.
Caloocan police chief P/Col. Noel Flores said his men are still looking into the identities of the slain suspects who both died on the spot from bullet wounds in their bodies.
Col. Flores said that earlier at around 3:15 a.m., they received a complaint from Ma. Luisa Maristela, 24, cashier, and May Cesar, 21, both residents of Malabon City, that two men stole at gunpoint their Yamaha Mio motorcycle.
Joint elements of Station Intelligence Branch (SIB) and Special Operation Unit (SIU) led by P/Maj. Raymond Nicolas immediately launched a search and spotted the suspects along Torres Bugallion St. Brgy. 13 driving a motorcycle which fitted the description given by the victims.
Instead of stopping the suspects allegedly started shooting at the lawmen who returned fire, killing the duo instantly.
Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered from the slain suspects two unlicensed caliber .38 revolvers, a heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing undetermined quantity of shabu, a small plastic with dried marijuana leaves, two mobile phones and the stolen motorcycle.
Police said the victims later positively identified the slain suspects as the men who stole their motorcycle.
