A 17-year-old alleged ‘call boy’ was arrested by the Manila Police District (MPD) in connection with the killing of a 66-year-old associate professor inside a hotel in Sta. Cruz, Manila last October 29.
MPD-Homicide section head Chief Inspector Rommel Anicete said the suspect was nabbed at around 3 p.m. of November 2 inside the home of his live-in partner on Matang Tubig Street in Tondo.
The suspect’s name was withheld on account of his being a minor and police said he is an out-of-school youth whose residence is on F. Aguilar Street in Bo. Obrero, Tondo.
Police said the victim was arrested via the tracking on his cellphone which was recovered by authorities and footages of the closed circuit television (CCTV) in the area.
Last October 29 at 8:10 p.m., victim Ely Tanedo, of Poblacion, Sta. Maria, Bulacan, was found inside the Sogo Hotel in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
His left cheek was swollen and his neck bore strangulation marks and had blood.
Police said that based on initial investigation, the victim picked up the suspect in front of the Isetann Department Store at the corner of CM Recto Avenue in Sta. Cruz, after the victim agreed to be paid P300.
