TWO suspected car thieves were killed in a shootout with responding policemen in Quezon City yesterday.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director, PCSupt Joselito T Esquivel Jr said the slain suspects are yet to be identified.
A report gathered from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of QCPD showed that at around 12:30 a.m., the suspects arrived at 194 Fairlane St., Bgy. Greater Fairview on board a red Suzuki motorcycle without plate number.
The suspects reportedly smashed the glass window of a maroon Nissan Sentra with plate number WHE 934 owned by Joe Ismael Pajanustan.
According to Pajanustan, he witnessed the incident and was about to accost the suspects but one of them pointed a gun at him prompting him to back off. The suspects reportedly took away a Dell laptop worth P25,000 and an Apple Tablet worth P20,000 and escaped towards Dalia St.
The victim immediately reported the incident to Brgy. Greater Fairview which relayed the information to PS5.
Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of PS 5 who were conducting a drug buy-bust operation near the area received the information and spotted the suspects along Lilac St. Corner M. Gabriel St., Bgy. Greater Fairview.
They reportedly flagged down the suspects but instead of stopping, they pulled out their handguns and fired towards the lawmen which led to a brief shootout and the death of the suspects.
Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team and Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) investigators recovered from the suspects two cal. 38 revolvers loaded with three bullets, six sachets of shabu, one backpack and one Samsung cellphone and the stolen belongings of the victim.
