TWO robbery-holdup men, who had just victimized two commuters waiting for a ride, were killed in a shootout with policemen early yesterday morning at the MacArthur Bridge in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Manila Police District Director BGen. Vicente Danao identified the slain suspects as Allan Danmalong, 38, of No. 939 Hidalgo St., Quiapo, Manila, and Michael Dequiñon, 21, of Block 15-B, Baseco Compound, Port Area, Manila.  The suspects’ cohort escaped.

Victims Carmela Dionisio, 46, a member of the Bantay-Bayan at Barangay 267, Zone 24 in Manila, and Marvin Gerald Salcedo, 27, an employe at the New World Hotel, were waiting for a ride in front of the Mehan Garden on P. Burgos Avenue when the suspects arrived aboard a lone motorcycle, snatched their bags and then sped away.

The victims immediately reported the incident to the Lawton Police Community Precinct (PCP) of the MPD-Station 5 and the District Intelligence Division (DID) which were manning a checkpoint near the Bonifacio Shrine. Policemen wasted no time and chased the suspects who were cornered at the MacArthur Bridge.

During the chase, the suspects reportedly fired at the cops prompting the lawmen to retaliate hitting the two suspects.

Police recovered from the scene two cal.38 revolvers, seven spent shells, two deformed slugs and the motorcycle used by the suspects.
