Secretary nabbed for bribing cops to release Chinese nat’ls

A 25-YEAR-OLD woman was arrested after she tried to bribe police officers in exchange for the release of two Chinese nationals earlier arrested for illegal detention in Makati City.

Gemma Alquizalas, corporate secretary and resident of Unit 601 My Town Istanbul, Barrio Visaya St. Bgy. Guadalupe reportedly went to Makati Sub-Station 7 Thursday at around 4:45 p.m. and asked the assistance of policemen who earlier arrested Yang Hong, 38, and Hu Shuangling, 33 for illegal detention.

While Alquizalas was talking to the police officers, she allegedly showed a bundle of money amounting to P100,000 and offered it to the authorities in exchange for the release of the two Chinese men, prompting the lawmen to place her under arrest and charged her for violation of Article 212 or the Corruption of Public Officials.

Makati police chief P/Col. Oscar Jacildo said that earlier at around 12:30 p.m., Yang and Hu, both customer service representative and resident of Blk 18 Lot 3, My Town Milan, Kalayaan Ave. Bgy Pitogo, were arrested by elements of Sub-Station 7 after Leon Ho Kah Fai, 26 and Shi Yu Ting, female, 27, both POGO workers, reported that their friends and compatriots were illegally detained by the suspects inside her unit at Room 301 My Town Istanbul Building in Bgy. Guadalupe Nuevo.

Acting on the complaint, policemen went to the area that resulted in the arrest of the suspects and rescued the victim  identified as Tan Fei, 27 who was  found inside her room still with handcuffed.

Victim alleged that the suspects demanded from her 560,000 Yuan which is equivalent to P3.9 million in exchange for her liberty.
