THE father-in-law of Senator Grace Poe was injured after the vehicle he was driving fell from the third floor of a carpark building at the Greenhills Shopping Center in San Juan City, Sunday morning.
A report submitted to Eastern Police District (EPD) director Chief Supt. Bernabe Balba by San Juan police chief Senior Supt. Dindo Reyes identified the victim as Dr. Teodoro Paraiso Llamanzares, 83, retired physician and residing at 9 Nevada Street, Northeast Greenhills, Bgy. Greenhills, San Juan City.
Reyes said the victim was rushed to Cardinal Santos Memorial Medical Center after he suffered injuries in different parts of the body, but he is now in stable condition.
Initial investigation showed the incident happened at around 9:45 a.m. at the third level Parking 4 Promenade located along Greenhills Shopping Center in San Juan City.
Prior to the incident, the elderly man was parking his metallic gray Toyota Innova (AHA-8024) at the third level of the parking building when he accidentally stepped on the accelerator of his vehicle.
The vehicle crashed into the metal railing before falling out from the four-storey carpark building.
The victim’s car turned turtle and fell on the ground floor causing a loud thud which shoppers thought was an explosion.
Reyes said the in-law of Poe went to the church prior to the incident and parked his vehicle while he dropped off his wife at a shop to buy grocery.
Members of the San Juan Police Community Precinct (PCP-1) headed by Chief Insp. Edgar Escreza and management of the mall quickly responded to the accident and rushed the victim to the hospital.
The victim is still undergoing treatment and subjected for further check-up.
