TOO much work took a toll on Manila Mayor Isko Moreno who hardly rested, defying doctors’ orders.

Moreno, who had been working full-time despite having cough and colds that began last week, still made the rounds during the weekend to check on infrastructure projects going on in the city.

When he opened the Kadiwa retail stores at the inner court on Monday morning, he got suddenly rained out while being interviewed by the media.

Despite his cough and colds, Moreno’s executive assistant Weng Santiago said the mayor went overtime by attending to paperworks up to 12 midnight and then began work early the following day.

On Tuesday night, Moreno was said to have not heeded orders for him to rest when he again stayed in the office up to close to midnight to attend to documents that needed his signature, it was learned from Santiago.

Santiago said Moreno’s co-workers and even netizens have been expressing concern about the mayor’s working habits.

‘Masyado po siyang masipag di na nagpapahinga,’ Santiago said of Moreno.  Santiago is in charge of Moreno’s schedules which she said is full to the brim on a day-to-day basis.

It was learned that although work at City Hall is only from Monday to Friday, Santiago reports to work on Saturdays so she could assist Moreno with paperworks that piled up during weekdays, when the mayor is preoccupied with attending functions and meetings.
