POLICE arrested a security guard for allegedly mauling and tryijg to kill his niece inside their home Friday evening in Valenzuela City.
Valenzuela police chief P/Col. Fernando Ortega said Arthuro Abella, 39, native of Tagum, Davao del Norte was still reeking with liquor when arrested by P/EMSgt. Richard Bautista, of the Valenzuela Police Warrant and Subpoena Section, inside his house at Phase 1, Blk 4, Lot 9, Assumption Ville, Brgy. Lingunan, with the assistance of Barangay Bantay Bayan.
Ortega, in an interview over the phone said that prior to the incident, Arthuro and his 18-year-old niece Eusalan Jowela Abellar engaged in a heated altercation last Wednesday evening for still unknown reasons.
At around 9 p.m. Friday, the suspect, while under the influence of liquor arrived home then kicked and punched his niece repeatedly in her face and neck.
The victim tried to fight back but her uncle took a pair of scissors and a kitchen knife and stabbed her repeatedly, hitting her in the arm and knee.
Though wounded, the victim managed to run outside and seek help from Sgt. Richard Bautista who was then walking on his way home.
With the assistance of Barangay Bantay-Bayan, Bautista forcibly took the knife from the suspect and placed him under arrest.
Ortega said the suspect was presented for inquest proceedings before the Valenzuela City Prosecutor’s Office on charges of attempted murder and violation of Batas Pambansa Blg. 6 or illegal possession of deadly weapon.
