A Chinese businessman was killed the other night by a male motorcycle-riding suspect who shot him in the head at close range after posing as a customer of his store in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Victim Jimmy Chua Yu Eng Hong, 66, of 738 Teodora Alonzo St., Sta. Cruz, Manila, died on the spot while the suspect, who was wearing a black jacket, a face mask and helmet, escaped.
SPO1 Roderick Magpale of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section said the incident took place at around 5:45 p.m. inside the victim’s Chinese Grocery Store located at 738 T. Alonzo Street in Sta. Cruz.
The victim’s wife, Choi See-See, 59, told probers that the suspect parked his motorcycle in front of their store, got off and then went straight to their counter.
Witness Jessica Sur, 18, a saleslady, said the victim posed as a customer and took a bottle of soda but once he was near the counter, he drew a gun and shot the victim in the head.
The suspect, she said, even checked if the victim was already dead before he headed back to his motorcycle and then sped toward Claro M. Recto Avenue.
Police recovered at the crime scene a spent shell for cal. .45 gun.
Investigation is underway to establish the motive for the killing and the identity of the suspect.
