POLICE are now looking into a possibility that the non- uniformed personnel (NUP) of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) who was gunned down Tuesday afternoon was allegedly involved in drug operation inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.

Muntinlupa police chief P/Col. Gerardo Umayao said Ruperto Traya, Jr., 33, was already transferred to Leyte Regional Prison during the time of Justice Secretary Laila De Lima and he only visited his family living in the city when he was shot dead by riding in tandem criminals at around 1:40 p.m. in front of his rented parking lot at 1134 Amparo St., Bgy. Poblacion.

Umayao said prior to his stint as Chief Administrative Officer of the records section at the NBP, proliferation of illegal drugs inside the penitentiary was revealed which prompted then Justice Secretary De Lima to transfer him to Leyte Regional Prison.
