Smuggled Chinese meds seized in Pasay City

COMBINED agents of the National Capital Region Police Office and the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-NCR Regional Office on Monday seized a huge volume of smuggled Chinese medicines and other medical supplies during an operation in Pasay City, NCRPO director Major General Debold M. Sinas said.

The raid at the Kang Fu Clinic located at Hobbies of Asia on Diosdado Macapagal Avenue in Pasay City also led to the arrest of Tian Shang Guo, 47, a Chinese national and store owner, of Barangay 76, Zone 10 in Diosdado Macapagal Avenue, Pasay City.

The operation was conducted amid information provided to the CIDG-NCR headed by Colonel Arnold Thomas C. Ibay regarding the presence of the Pasay City clinic which sells unregistered Chinese medicines and where medical malpractices are reportedly taking place.

In coordination with the Food and Drug Administration Deputy Director General Maria Lourdes Santiago, the CIDG-NCR and the NCRPO operatives conducted the operation which led in the arrest of Guo, a resident and the seizure of four boxes containing assorted unregistered Chinese medicines.

The arrested Chinese national and the recovered pieces of evidence were brought to the CIDG-NCR headquarters in Camp Crame.

Ibay said they will be filing criminal charges for violation of the Food and Drugs Administration Law and the Philippine Pharmacy Law against the suspect.
