Spaniard goes berserk in Makati parking lot

MULTIPLE criminal charges were filed by police yesterday against a Spanish national who went berserk at the parking lot of a condominium Tuesday morning in Makati City.

Makati police chief Senior Supt. Rogelio Simon said Jairo Ruiz Ibanez, 36 of Purok 5 General Luna Siargao was arrested by responding Bantay Bayan of Bgy. Poblacion after he assaulted a security officer who tried to pacify him while creating trouble at around 5 a.m. at the 2nd floor parking lot of Makati Prime Tower Suites, Bgy. Poblacion.

Investigation showed that the suspect, for no apparent reason, suddenly went berserk, destroyed his motorcycle helmet and smashed the window of a car owned by Edd Paolo Morales, 30, one of the tenants of the condominium.

Security personnel, led by Alaniel Mayangao, 33, responded to the area and tried to pacify the suspect but he was punched by the latter and hit his back with a hollow block.

Mayangao’s colleagues sought the assistance of Barangay Poblacion Bantay Bayan but the suspect continued to create trouble until he was subdued and turned over to the police.

Senior Supt. Simon said charges of malicious mischief, alarm and scandal, direct assault and resisting arrest were filed against him before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office.
