Student loses one eye, seeks justice

THE Manila Regional Trial Court has issued a warrant of arrest against two siblings for trying to kill an architecture student last May in Sampaloc, Manila.

Judge Teresa Soriaso of Branch 27 of Manila RTC issued the warrant against Clarence R. Triff, 23, and his brother Christian, 19, both residents of No. 619 Sulucan St., Sampaloc, Manila, after she found probable cause against the accused.

The victim identified as Nufayel Sinsuat, 22, a graduating architecture student of Technological Institute of the Philippines, sustained deep cut wounds in the head and face. He also lost one eye after he was stabbed by the accused with a broken bottle.

The incident happened last May 23 at Chill Stop RestoBar on A. Lacson Avenue., a few meters away from a police precinct in Sampaloc, at around 11 p.m. The victim and his friends were about to leave the resto bar when the group of the accused came and confronted him. A quarrelensued until the accused smashed two bottles of wine on the victim’s head. Witnesses said the victim tried to fight back but the victim was mobbed by the suspects’ group.

The victim’s brother Jalal said Nufayel had stopped schooling after he lost his one eye since his course requires students to have good eyesight.

Jalal said the suspects went into hiding after the incident.
