A SENIOR high school teacher who has been accused of raping a 17-year-old student inside his boarding house last year was nabbed by members of San Juan Police on Friday last week.
In a report to Eastern Police District (EPD) director, Chief Supt. Christopher Tambungan, San Juan Police chief, Senior Supt. Ariel R.Fulo, identified the suspect as Zamir Laud, single and resident of No.48 Barcelona St., Bgy.Sta Lucia, San Juan City.
Fulo said Laud, a Science and Research teacher of San Juan City National High School, was collared by members of San Juan Police Warrant and Subpoena Unit chief, SPO4 Eduardo Fronda inside his boarding house in Bgy.Sta Lucia at around 11:40 am last week.
A warrant of arrest for rape was issued by San Juan City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 14-FC Judge Mary Catherine Noblejas-Garcia dated February 21, 2019 against Laud.
Based on court records, the suspect was accused by the teenager of raping her inside his boarding house on August 13,2018 at around 6 p.m.
Investigation said the girl went to her teacher’s boarding house and allegedly discussed her problem with him.
At the height of their conversation the suspect allegedly made sexual advances to the victim.
After two days, the victim told the incident to her teachers, who in turn reported the matter and filed rape charges against the suspect at the police station.
Fulo said Laud’s arrest was the result of surveillance by operatives after they received information that the suspect was still living in his boarding house.
The suspect denied the charges. But the report was confirmed by the medico-legal officer of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory.
The suspect is now detained at the San Juan Police custodial facility with no bail recommended.
