A public school teacher was arrested after he stole two laptops owned by his co-teachers inside the school’s faculty room yesterday morning in Valenzulea City.
Valenzuela police chief Senior Supt. David Nicolas Poklay identified the arrested suspect as Francisco Lucaban, 55, senior high school teacher of Karuhatan National High School and resident of 46 Asuncion St., Morning Breeze Subdivision, Caloocan City.
The suspect was arrested after his senior high school co-teachers Marwin Tatoy, 25, of Block 14, Lot 15, Villa Regina Subdivision, Bgy. Lias, Marilao, Bulacan, and Patricia Maria Gajes, 31, of 21 Fatima Avenue, Pag-asa, Subdivision, Bgy. Marulas, sought the assistance of school security guards after they discovered that their Lenovo laptop computers worth P23,500 each which was kept inside their respective lockers inside the school faculty room were missing.
The guard was able to identify Lucaban as the last person he saw going out of the faculty room at around 9 a.m., prompting the complainant to seek police assistance.
The suspect was about to flee when he was nabbed by elements of Valenzuela Police Community Precinct (PCP) 9. Recovered from his possession were the stolen laptop computers and fake identification cards of Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and School Division Office of Valenzuela.
A case for two counts of theft and falsification of documents will be filed by police against the suspect before the Valenzuela City Prosecutor’s Office.
