The minor suspect left but a few minutes later returned already armed with handgun and shoot Petilia but missed. He instead hit a bystander identified as Ramil Sarmiento in the cheek.

Petilia was able to grab the gun of the suspect while some bystanders who witnessed the incident mobbed him when he tried to escape.

Police recovered from the minor suspect a caliber .9mm Glock 17 with magazine loaded with five bullets while Sarmiento was rushed to Palanan Health Center for medical treatment.
