AN 18-year-old student, who was with a group of young men engaged into a riot with rival groups, was seriously hurt when he was hit in the head by a golf club Friday night in Caloocan City.
Caloocan deputy police chief for administration Supt. Ferdinand del Rosario said Miguel Cabarda, of 172 6th Street, 11th Avenue, Bgy. 89, was rushed to Manila Central University (MCU) Hospital where he was placed under observation.
Investigators said that at 10:30 p.m., Cabarda was walking along 4th Avenue on his way to a nearby store when he was confronted by their rival group, led by certain Oyo Cordova, of 275 4th St., 11th Avenue, Bgy. 90.
For fear of his life, the victim sought the help of his group that resulted in a riot.
During the fight, Cordova managed to grab a golf club and smashed the head of Cabarda, prompting his friends to rush him to the hospital.
Elements of Caloocan Police Community Precinct 2 and Station Investigation and Detective Management Branch (SIDMB) conducted a follow-up operation but failed to arrest Cordova and his cohorts.
