A BUSINESSWOMAN lost cash and jewelry worth a total of P772,000 after her housemaid allegedly fell victim to members of a gang called ‘dugo -dugo’ in Sta. Mesa, Manila.
The helper, identified as Luisa Carandang, 42, was arrested on the complaint of her employer Carolina Tabisora, 62, of Ilumina Residence, V. Mapa St., Sta. Mesa, Manila.
The victim told the police that when she arrived home at around 1 p.m. the other day, she found her cabinet wide open and all the cash and jewelry she kept inside it already gone.
Carandang told the police that a woman called her up and told her that her employer met an accident in Divisoria.
The caller allegedly told her to forcibly open the door her employer’s room and the cabinet inside, get all the money and jewelry she can find and then bring them in front of a mall near the Manila City Hall.
Carandang said she handed over evrything to a woman aged 25 to 30 and about 5’2" in height, after which the woman directed her to the mall’s fifth floor to meet someone.
Once there, Carandang told the police she found all the offices closed, so she went back to where she left the woman but the latter was gone. She went home after waiting for the woman to re-appear.
Her employer was unconvinced that she decided to file a case of qualified theft against Carandang before the Manila Prosecutors Office.
