RIDING-in-tandem criminals shot dead a local traffic enforcer who was chasing a motorcycle rider he tried to accost for ignoring traffic rules yesterday morning in Pasay City.
Joel De Chavez, a member of Pasay City Traffic Bureau, died on the spot from multiple bullet wounds in the body while the still unidentified suspects fled towards an unknown direction. Pasay police chief P/Col. Bernard Yang said the incident happened at around 9 a.m. at the northbound lane of EDSA Extension in front of Double Dragon Plaza.
The victim was manning traffic along EDSA when he tried to flag down an unidentified rider who violated traffic rules but instead of stopping, the rider sped away which prompted De Chavez to chase him.
However, upon reaching the front entrance of Double Dragon Plaza, two men on board a single motorcycle without license plate blocked his path. The back rider drew an unknown caliber of firearm and shot the victim repeatedly, hitting him in the body that resulted in his instantaneous death.
