Turk viral for assaulting traffic enforcer arrested by Bureau of Immigration

November 30, 2018

REMEMBER the Turkish national whose video while assaulting a traffic enforcer in Makati went viral? He was arrested yesterday by Bureau of Immigration (BI) operatives for violation of immigration regulations, particularly ‘overstaying and being undesirable’.

Yuksel Ibrahim, 24, hogged the headlines after a video went viral on social media showing him evading a traffic violation in the afternoon of November 22 and subsequently pushing traffic enforcer Michael Orcino and hitting the latter in the arm.

The said enforcer was directing traffic in the middle of the street when the Turkish national was flagged down. Unable to present a driver’s license, Ibrahim sped off and was subsequently arrested for allegedly physically assaulting Orcino.

Ibrahim was released yesterday by Makati police after posting bail but was re-arrested by BI’s intelligence agents for his immigration violations.

“We immediately conducted an investigation on his status once we received information about the incident,” said BI Intelligence Division Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr.

“We found out that he is already overstaying, and his blatant disregard for the law and disrespect for law enforcers show that he is an undesirable alien,” he added.

Manahan also said that based on verification, Ibrahim was also engaged in gainful operations without a proper visa.

Ibrahim is currently detained at the BI Detention Center in Bicutan, Taguig pending deportation proceedings.
