University of the Philippine car robber nabbed

Security personnel of the University of the Philippines (UP) in Diliman Campus arrested a suspected basag-kotse robber after allegedly smashing the window of the vehicle owned by a physician.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, PCSupt. Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. identified the suspect as Roel Calso, 30, of Blk. 6 Ipit-Ipit Kaingin 1, Bgy. Pansol.

A report gathered from the Anonas Police Station showed that the victim identified as Algerich Chua, 48 years old physician, along with his wife went to UP campus to jog.

Chua parked their Toyota Innova, along Agoncillo St., Bgy. UP Campus.

The suspect smashed the rear right passenger window of the vehicle at around 11 a.m. on January 2, and stole several belongings of the couple such as a gray sling bag containing cash amounting to P12,000, an iPhone 8 cellphone worth P55,000, driver’s license, stethoscope, credit cards, ATM Cards, SM gift certificate worth P1,200 and other valuables.

The incident was seen by duty guard Romualdo Torculas who responded immediately and chased the suspect who ran  towards the shanty at Pook Dagohoy. Other UP security personnel arrived and conducted pursuit operation that led to the arrest of the suspect.
