University of Sto. Tomas stude hurt in fall from campus bridge

AN accounting student at the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) landed in a hospital after falling off a footbridge inside the campus the other night.

A report from the Manila Police District said victim Jan Wilcel Peñaflor, 20, of 2104 C Ilaw ng Nayon St., Sampaloc, Manila, sustained fractures as a result of the accident that took place at 11:54 p.m. at the Cayco footbridge located on España Boulevard corner Cayco Street in Sampaloc.

Police gathered from witnesses that the victim was walking on the said bridge when he suddenly fell for still unclear reason.

Members of the University Belt Area Police Community Precinct headed by SPO2 Arthur Cantor responded to the scene and called for an ambulance.

Moments later, the Raha Sulayman Rescue Ambulance arrived, led by one Francisco Vargas and then brought the student to the UST Hospital. He was later transferred to the St. Luke’s Hospital.
