Valenzuela sting: CIDG agents bag gun trafficker

OPERATIVES of the Anti-Organized Crime Unit of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group on Tuesday evening arrested a suspected illegal weapons’ trafficker in Metro Manila during an entrapment operation in Valenzuela City, a report to PNP-CIDG chief, Director Amador V. Corpus said yesterday.

CIDG-AOCU chief, Lt. Col. Marlon Santos identified the suspect as Omar Bindong Ahil alias ‘Alex Ahil Bendong,’ a 38-year old forklift operator of Mondragon Sreel Corporaton residing at no. 40 Jasmin Street in Area 1, Barangay Capri, Novaliches, Quezon City.

Santos said the suspect was arrested along Mindanao Avenue, Sitio Gitna in Kaybiga, Valenzuela City around at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday after he sold a caliber .45 pistol to an undercover officer.

The official said that his men led by Major Jowie Lucas seized a cal. .45 Mark IV Series 80 semi-automatic pistol with serial no. 1953418 with a magazine containing seven live ammunition, a hand grenade and the boodle money topped by two marked P500 bills from the suspect.

Santos said the suspect is included in the PNP Directorate for Intelligence watch list as a member of the Sehar Muloc Group involved in gun-for-hire, extortion and kidnapping activities in Zamboanga peninsula.

“He is the subject of an operational plan to neutralize an organized crime group based in Mindanao,” said Santos. The suspect is now being held at the CIDG-AOCU headquarters in Camp Crame while charges for illegal possession of firearms and explosives are being readied against him.
