A 27-year-old man shot himself in the head allegedly over money problem shortly after midnight yesterday in Malabon City.
Fernando Mangali, 27, of 72 Magsaysay St. Bgy. San Agustin succumbed to a lone gunshot wound on the left portion of his head while undergoing medical treatment at Tondo Medical Center where he was rushed by his 25-year-old live-in partner Junelyn Santos.
Malabon police homicide investigator P/SSgt. Jose Romeo Germinal II in an interview over the phone said Mangali was declared dead past 8 a.m. by his attending physician.
Investigation showed that at around 12:50 a.m., Santos heard a burst of gunfire inside their room and was shocked to see her live-in partner in a pool of blood prompting her to seek assistance from their neighbor in rushing the victim to the hospital.
Malabon police chief P/Col. Jessie Tamayao said investigators failed to recover the gun used by the victim but elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) found a slug from cal. 22 handgun from the crime scene.
Sgt. Germinal said they have gathered information from relatives of the victim that the latter was allegedly despondent over his failure to settle his huge debt.
