Doctor ‘bf’ of slain insurance exec now a person of interest — police.
POLICE investigators yesterday said a doctor who was reportedly the boyfriend of the female insurance executive murdered in Las Piñas city is now being considered a person of interest.
Officer-on-case P/Sgt. Ernesto Bautista said Dr. Leo Acedillo of legal age, a neuro surgeon at the Makati Medical Center, already expressed his willingness to give a statement to the police regarding the killing of Corina Ibias, 33, investment manager of Sun Life Insurance, who was reportedly five months pregnant when she was gunned down by an assassin.
Sgt. Bautista said Dr. Acedillo and the victim had been in a relationship for quite some time and her family knew she was already pregnant. The two were batch mates in high school, police said.
Investigators also ruled out robbery as the motive behind the killing since all the personal belongings of the victim were intact, except for her two mobile phones which were reportedly missing.
Ibias was shot dead by a still unidentified gunman armed with cal. 45 pistol with a silencer after she got into the driver’s seat of her car at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday night in Daang Hari.
Her boyfriend, who had dinner with her at Tongyang Restaurant located at the Seaside Daang Hari, walked her to her car parked nearby.
However, as soon as he left the gunman suddenly appeared and shot the victim once in the head.
