A wanted man with pending cases for illegal possession of firearm and violation of Omnibus Election Code was killed when he tried to engage lawmen in a shootout Wednesday evening in Caloocan City.

Caloocan police chief P/Col. Noel Flores said Dominic Batin of Block 2 Lot 8 Villa Reform, Paraiso, Bgy. 167, Llano succumbed to bullet wounds in the body while being rushed to Valenzuela City Medical Center.

Earlier at around 6:30 p.m., elements of Valenzuela Police Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) led by Capt. Alberto Juanillo, Jr. in coordination with Caloocan Police Community Precinct (PCP) 6 proceeded to the house of the suspect to serve an arrest warrant.

While P/SMSgt. Roberto Santillan and Cpl. Maverick Jake Perez were serving the two warrants Batin drew his caliber .38 firearm and squeezed the trigger twice but his gun failed to fire.

Sensing that their lives were in danger, Sgt. Santillan and Cpl. Perez fired back hitting the suspect in the body.
Valenzuela police chief P/Col. Carlito Gaces said the slain suspect was in previous years also involved in illegal drugs.

A caliber .38 revolver with two misfired bullets and three live ammunition was recovered by police from the slain suspect.
