Wanted NPA member, crime group leader nabbed

AN alleged member of the New People’s Army (NPA), who has P100,000 bounty for his capture was arrested by combined teams of  Eastern Police District (EPD) and Regional Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) following a raid Saturday evening in Pasig City.

EPD director Brig.Gen. Johnson Almazan said suspect Joselito Novelo, 45, did not resist arrest when cornered by combined teams of the Regional Intelligence Unit National Capital Region (RIU-NCR) and RIU5 of the Intelligence Group, EPDs Intelligence Unit and Regional Special Operations Group (PRO5) on Christ the King Street in Bgy. Santolan at around 6 p.m.

The arrest of Novelo was based on arrest warrants for murder, frustrated murder and robbery issued by the Legazpi City Regional Trial Court (RTC).

Almazan said Novelo was listed as the most wanted person of the Department of the  Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memo Circular 98-219 with a monetary reward of P100,000. He was also listed as the No. 30 most wanted person in the Bicol Region.

National Capital Region Police Office chief Major General Guillermo Eleazar said Novelo went into hiding in Pasig since 2007 and worked as a trike driver to support his daily needs.

Meanwhile, Art Cris Viloria, alias  Kwatog/Kuatog, 24, a leader of a criminal group in Marikina City and tagged as the number one most wanted person in NCRPO was arrested on Saturday morning by combined teams of Marikina Police Station Special Operations Unit, RIU of Tarlac City Police following an  operation at his safehouse in Bgy. San Vicente, Tarlac City.

Marikina Police chief Col. Restituto Arcanghel said the suspect has three standing arrest warrants in different Regional Trial Courts in Marikina City for Violation of Sec. 13 and Sec. 14 RA 9165 or Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002; violation of Usurpation of Authority; and robbery with violence and intimidation.
