A 32-year-old housewife was killed while trying to grab the improvised gun from her live-in partner following their heated altercation Saturday evening in Caloocan City.
Maricar Salem, 32, factory worker was rushed by her live-in partner to Bernardino Hospital but later succumbed to bullet wound in the body while being transferred to Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital.
Caloocan police chief P/Col. Noel Flores said the victim’s live-in partner Rey Andy Capuz, 35, construction worker, voluntarily surrendered to personnel of Police Community Precinct (PCP) 5 who responded to the area where the incident happened.
Col. Flores said that prior to the incident, the victim and her live-in partner were having a heated altercation at around 7:50 p.m. inside their house located along Alma Jose St., Cielito, Bgy. 177 for still unknown reason.
At the height of their heated altercation, Capuz took an improvised gun or “sumpak” and allegedly threatened to shoot his live-in partner but the latter, rather than feel fearful, tried to grab the firearm and during their scuffle, the gun went off hitting the victim in the body.
