Woman hairdresser shot, critical

TWO unidentified armed men shot and critically wounded a woman hairdresser in front of her nephew Friday afternoon in Malabon City.

Sheryl Pineda, 48, of Block 1 Lot 10, Sitio 6, Bgy. Catmon was rushed to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center where he was placed in critical condition due to a lone bullet wound in the head while the still unidentified assailants, both wearing surgical masks, escaped towards an unknown direction.

Malabon police homicide investigators P/Cpl. Joenel Claro and P/Cpl. Michael Oben said the victim and his nephew, identified as Jian Ronquillo, were about to leave on board a tricycle at around 1:40 p.m.to visit Pineda’s live-in partner who was detained at the Malabon City Jail, when the suspects suddenly appeared along Governor Pascual Avenue, Sitio 6, Bgy, Catmon.

One of the suspects drew an unknown caliber of firearm and without a word shot Pineda at close range, hitting her in the head.

Thinking that the victim was already dead, the suspects immediately escaped, while  Ronquillo immediately rushed his aunt to the hospital.

Element of Malabon Police Community Precinct (PCP) 9 immediately conducted a follow-up operation but they failed to identify and arrest the perpetrators. An empty shell for still unknown caliber of firearm was recovered from the crime scene.

Investigators are still conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the motive behind the incident.
