A WOMAN, who has gained notoriety for posing as a ‘relative’ of Philippine National Police Chief Directorial Staff, Deputy Director General Camilo Pancratius P. Cascolan in order to extort money from her victims, mostly dismissed policemen seeking reinstatement in the service, was arrested by agents of the National Capital Region Police Office in an entrapment operation in Parañaque City on Wednesday afternoon.
Suspect Dianne Mae Velasco Navarez was placed under arrest during the sting conducted by members of the NCRPO Regional Special Operations Unit along Alejandro Street in Bgy. Vitalez in Parañaque City at 1:30 p.m., said NCRPO chief Director Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar.
During the entrapment, the suspect was caught in the act of receiving marked P10,000 bills from dismissed policeman Emmanuel Carlos. It turned out that Carlos sought the help of the NCRPO-RSOU headed by Supt. Rogarth Campo after sensing that he is being duped by the woman.
Eleazar said a team of NCRPO-RSOU operatives led by Chief Insp. Jameson Aguilar arrested the suspect.
He said their investigation showed that Navarez has been posing as a ‘relative’ of Cascolan, the PNP’s fourth highest official, and telling her would-be victims that she can help them return to the police force thru the help of her connections in the NCRPO and Camp Crame.
Cascolan told the Journal Group on Wednesday night that he has long asked the NCRPO and other police regional units to immediately arrest the suspect and other persons that may use his name for their own personal aggrandizement or other illegal activities.
The suspect, who is now being held at the NCRPO-RSOU headquarters, will be facing charges for robbery-extortion.
