MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno warned a group of young men against harassing a girl for filing rape charges against their gang-mate.

Manahimik kayo,” said Moreno, as he presented the rape suspect who was brought to his office by Special Mayor’s Reaction Team (SMART) chief Maj. Jhun Ibay and Manila Police District-Sta. Ana Police Station 6 commander Police Lt. Col. Evangeline Martos.

May picture din kami ninyo,” Moreno said.

The rape suspect was identified as Leo Melanio, alias ‘Small’, 23, a stay-in veterinary assistant at a pet salon on Pedro Gil Street, Paco, Manila.

He was arrested after the victim and her mother filed a complaint with the barangay, whose chairman accompanied them to the mayor to seek his help since the victim was being harassed by the suspect’s gang-mates to withdraw the charges against him.

The mayor assured the victim and her mother that the suspect’s friends will be warned, as Moreno directed Martos to go after the gang members and tell them not to meddle.

Meanwhile, Moreno asked the mother to make sure they push through with the case. Jerry S. Tan
