A gang of young thieves barged inside the house of a rookie policeman and carted away cash and his cellphone before dawn Tuesday in Valenzuela City.
Five of the six suspects, four of them minors, were arrested after the victim, identified as Pat. Emerson Magallon, 23, assigned at the District Mobile Force of Northern Police District (NPD) and resident of 453 H. Maple Residence, Rambotan, Bgy. Gen. T. De Leon sought the assistance of roving barangay watchmen.
Newly appointed Valenzuela police chief P/Col. Carlito Gaces identified the arrested suspects as Jomel Ibabao, 18, of 2144 Angeles St., a 14-year-old teenage girl and three boys aged 16 to 17.
Officer on case P/Cpl. Regiemart Manabat of Valenzuela police Station Investigation Unit (SIU) said that when the victim was awakened from sleep at around 1:50 a.m. to pee, he was surprised to see the young girl and a boy inside his room. The two minors immediately fled when the victim tried to confront them.
When Pat. Magallon checked his belongings, he discovered that his Samsung cellular phone and P3,000 cash were missing prompting him to seek the assistance of roving barangay watchmen who were able to arrest Ibabao and the two boys.
During a follow-up operation, the 14-year-old girl and the 16-year-old boy who were seen by Pat. Magallon inside his room were arrested inside Beta Computer shop in Francisco St., Bgy. Gen. T. De Leon.
