ELEVEN more truck drivers were arrested after testing positive for shabu during an anti-overloading and anti-drunk and drugged driving operation conducted Thursday midnight until dawn yesterday.

In an interview, Atty. Clarence V. Guinto, Acting Director of the Land Transportation Office-Law Enforcement Section and concurrent Dir. of LTO-National Capital Region-West, said the 11 arrested suspects were among the 193 truck drivers flagged down by a composite team led by LTO-LES-NCR-West personnel during the operation.

Guinto said eight of the suspects were arrested on Karuhatan-NLEX Exit, Valenzuela City, three at the Bocaue Exit in Bulacan and one along Lacson Avenue in Manila.

The 11 suspects are now detained at the police station and undergoing inquest proceeding before the prosecutor’s office. Their professional driver’s license will be revoked.

Hindi ito biro, under Republic Act 10586 and 9165 Section 15, ang penalty nito from P50,000 to P200,000 may imprisonment pa eto, six years to 12 years, depende sa kalalabasan ng investigation,” said Guinto.

Guinto added that out of the 193 trucks flagged down, 175 violated the anti-overloading law prompting thecomposite teams to issue tickets against them.

The LTO-LES also summoned the owners and operators of the 11 truck drivers who tested positive for shabu, said Guinto.

We will give them the benefits of the doubt, and hear first their reasons why their drivers are under the influenced of illegal drugs while driving their trucks. Ulitin ko maganda sumunod na lang tayo sa Batas, para ligtas ang lahat,” said Guinto.
