38 curfew violators arrested in Malate

A total of 38 persons, 14 of whom are women, were nabbed in Malate, Manila yesterday by the Manila Police District (MPD) for violation of the curfew ordinance.

The suspects were charged accordingly after being rounded up by policemen from the MPD- Malate Station 9 at around 12:20 a.m. while loitering along the baywalk area on Roxas Boulevard.

Most of those arrested, police said, are residents of Baseco Compound in Port Area while the rest are from Tondo, Pasay City and Quezon City.

The youngest is an 18-year-old female student while the eldest is a woman aged 55.

P/ Lt. Jesus Menes, block commander of Roxas Boulevard PCP, said they were conducting “Oplan Galugad” in connection with the enforcement of the General Community Quarantine and city ordinances on orders of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno when they rounded up the suspects in violation of the curfew hours of from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m.
