Five hundred and 8 Filipino seamen from three countries in Europe have arrived in Manila on Saturday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
The repatriates comprised of 201 seafarers from Spain, 185 seafarers onboard MSC Splendida docked in Genoa, Italy, and 122 seafarers onboard MSC Fantasia docked in Lisbon, Portugal.
They were sent home through a chartered flight that landed at the NAIA Terminal 1 on Saturday.
This repatriation was made possible by the joint efforts of the DFA, through the Philippine Embassy in Lisbon, Portugal, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Department of Health (DOH), and Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc., the local manning agency.
All repatriates underwent the necessary medical protocols as required by DOH-Bureau of Quarantine.
