9 PNP generals take oath

NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office director  Major General Debold M. Sinas and  Criminal Investigation and Detection Group  director Joel Napoleon M. Coronel will take their oath  today before PNP chief General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa, the Journal Group learned yesterday.

The two will be joined by seven other newly-promoted one-star generals  -- Brigadier Generals Romeo M. Caramat Jr., Flynn C. Dongbo, Alessandro C. Abella; Rommil M. Mitra; Daniel C. Mayoni, Prexy D. Tanggawohn and Baltazar Israel.

Last week, President Rodrigo Duterte  approved the promotion of the nine police officials led by Sinas and Coronel as recommended by Gamboa and  Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo M. Año.

With their promotion, Sinas and Coronel became the latest members of Philippine Military Academy “Hinirang” Class of 1987 to become  a 2-star general in the PNP.

The new police major generals are in the forefront of the PNP’s ongoing campaign against drugs, crime, terrorism and rogues in uniform.  

Sinas is leading  Metro Manila police’s  anti-criminality and internal cleansing program. While  Coronel is in-charge of the PNP-CIDG which has scored major accomplishments over the past few weeks, the latest of which is the solution of the murder of ex-Batangas Representative Edgar L. Mendoza and  his driver and bodyguard last January 9  following the arrest of five suspects tagged as responsible for the abduction and killing of the victims and the burning of their bodies.

Caramat, a member of PMA “Tanglaw Diwa” Class of 1992 is currently the director of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group which is behind the seizure of nearly P3 billion worth of shabu and the arrest of a number of “high-value targets” since October last year.

On the other hand, Dongbo, the Executive Officer of the PNP Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management belongs to PMA Class 1990 while the others are products of the PNP Academy.

Abella was recently designated as director of the PNP Women and Children Protection Center while Mitra is the director of the PNP Firearms and Explosives Office.

Mayoni is the Executive Officer of the PNP Directorate for Information Communications and Technology Management while Tanggawohn is with the PNP Academy. Israel is assigned with the PNP Internal Affairs Service.
