Mayor Abby trounces brother in Makati mayoral polls, says PUBLiCUS Asia.
MAKATI Mayor Abby Binay continues to enjoy a strong lead over brother and political opponent Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay in the May 2019 mayoral race.
According to PUBLiCUS Asia’s independent #PahayagNCR findings, 67 percent of respondents will vote for Mayor Abby, while only 20 percent said they will cast their votes for Junjun.
The survey was conducted from November 16-20. Results were posted to the firm’s website, along with the results of mayoral races in other Metro Manila local governments.
An earlier poll conducted by Pulse Asia Survey in August revealed the same results. Mayor Abby dominated the polls with 67 percent or two-thirds of the 1,200 voters surveyed. The August 2017 polls measured Mayor Abby’s odds against Ricky Yabut, former acting mayor Romulo “Kid” Peña, and her brother Junjun.
#PahayagNCR is a dedicated poll that looked into the sentiments and insights of National Capital Region respondents on relevant national issues. The survey was conducted among 1,800 registered voters from the 16 cities and 1 municipality in NCR.
It chose Metro Manila, being the seat of power in the Philippine archipelago composed of 16 cities and one municipality. The area represents 11.1 percent of 54,363,844 total registered voters of the Philippines as of 2016. NCR also enjoys a sizeable budget among all the regions in the Philippines.
PUBLiCUS Asia -- known to be a disruptor in the field of polling -- has upgraded its research arm by shifting from the traditional pen and paper interviews (PAPI) to computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI) data collection method. The agency also developed its own mobile survey application known as VOX Survey designed to deliver a fast turnaround for survey results and provide a more accurate, more actionable picture of what the people think.
The polling arm is headed by its Founder and Chief Executive Officer Malou Tiquia.
