A House official on Monday announced that another employee of the House of Representatives has tested positive for coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19), the chamber’s 12th confirmed case.
House Secretary General Atty. Jose Luis Montales said the new positive employee works at the Internal Audit Department and last reported there on July 1.
“We reported last July 1 that an employee assigned at the Internal Audit Department tested positive for COVID-19. One of those exposed to her, a contractual personnel in their Department, also tested positive today. The contractual personnel is asymptomatic. The Internal Audit Department has been closed since July 2,” said Montales.
On Sunday, Montales said an employee of the House committee on justice whose last presence at the Batasang Pambansa complex in Quezon City was on June 24 to pick up some materials has also tested positive.
"It is with sadness that we announce that an employee assigned at the Committee on Justice tested positive for COVID- 19 today," Montales said in his message to House members, officials and employees.
According to Montales, the employee attended a brief meeting of the House committee on justice prior to his last June 24 visit.
Earlier, Montales bared that a congressional staff who last went to the House of Representatives on May 21 has tested positive for COVID-19, the 10th case.
"We remind everyone to be extra cautious. With the lifting of restrictions on the movement of people and the opening of economy, we are exposed to higher risk when we go outside of our homes," Montales said. "Let’s strictly follow our health and safety protocols.”
