SPEAKER Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo shrugged off reports that some of the economic managers of the administration are trying to oust her.

In an ambush interview shortly after attending an event in her district, Arroyo said she won’t waste time and emotions on rumors and unverified reports.

“You know reports, reports, those are all rumors so why spend so much time and emotion on them,” Arroyo said.

According to a solon, who requested anonymity,  a group led by Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez and Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno had conspired with some lawmakers to oust the Speaker shortly after she assumed the House leadership.

At present, House leaders and Diokno are at odds due to allegations of budget insertions and allocations on favored province for 2019 national budget.

The congressional source revealed that economic managers led by Dominguez and Diokno “marched into” Arroyo’s office more than a month after she was elected speaker. The group “demanded” that the 2019 proposed budget should neither be slashed nor touched as Diokno stressed that this was supposedly “the President’s budget.”
