THE Balangiga Bells are expected to arrive in the Philippines on December 11.
A ceremony will be held at Villamor Air Base to honor the bells' return.
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana will receive the bells from the US government.
The three bells were taken by US soldiers from Balangiga in Eastern Samar as war booty in 1901 and held them since then.
The return of the Balangiga Bells underscores the strength of the U.S.-Philippine relationship, the Philippine and United States government said.
Two of the bells were removed from their location at F.E. Warren Air Force base in Wyoming, USA in preparation for shipment to Manila.
The development was a step towards the fulfillment of the US government’s promise to finally return the historic bells.
Repeated requests of the Philippines for the return of the bells had been rejected or ignored by the US which has a change of heart only recently under the Trump administration.
