'Bikoy'-tagged persons probed

Bikoy

A NUMBER of prominent personalities identified by Peter Joemel Advincula alias “Bikoy” as having met him in several universities when he made the anti-Duterte videos released prior to the May 13 national and local elections will be investigated by the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

PNP-CIDG director Major General Amador V. Corpus said they have also requested concerned establishments including some universities named by Advincula  as their “meeting places” to provide them copies of their CCTV recordings  which may show that he really met with some candidates of the ‘Otso Diresto’ before the May polls.

Officials however fear that the CCTV footages may have already been erased or altered.

PNP chief Director General Oscar D. Albayalde said that although they are not taking Advincula’s statements as “gospel truth,” they will also conduct a probe into his claims that he had met a number of prominent anti-Duterte personalities including Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas, Caloocan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, and former Aquino administration’s Secretary of Education Armin Luistro.

Journal Group sources said that Advincula had also identified a number of known opposition figures including Senator Antonio Trillanes IV who joined him in meetings where the “Ang Totoong Narco-List” videos in which “Bikoy” accused some members of President Duterte’s family and a number of allies as having links with illegal drugs in an effort to bring down the administration’s senatorial candidates.

Advincula claimed that the plot was aimed at toppling President Duterte through another form of “people power.” Once he is unseated, Advincula said that the plan would be to replace President Duterte with Vice President Ma. Leni Robredo and install Senator Antonio Trillanes IV as vice president.

However all administration-backed candidates led by former PNP chief Gen. Ronald ‘Bato’ M. de la Rosa and former Special Assistant to the President Secretary Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go won while the opposition ‘Otso Diresto’ bets were wiped out.

Sources who interviewed Advincula described him as “very knowledgeable” of the supposed meeting places he mentioned as well as the personalities he talked with. “I think he’s talking sense and not reading from a script anymore. He also has been very consistent with his statements,” said one officer who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The CIDG has taken the initial statement of Advincula who is now under its custody. Corpus also told the Journal Group that he has not authorized the release of Advincula’s statement to the press and would make sure that anybody who will leak it to unauthorized persons including members of the media will be investigated and dealt with accordingly.
