Camiguin last stop for HNP caravan

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin – Hugpong ng Pagbabago chairperson Davao City Mayor  Sara Duterte decided to make this province the HNP’s campaign rally last stop  and recalled how she and father President Rodrigo Duterte were treated unfairly by a political clan here.

Speaking in Visaya in front of at least 3,000 people attending the rally, Mayor Sara slammed the Romualdo family for not allowing then Mayor Rodrigo to campaign here for President in the 2016 elections.

In 2016, the Romualdos were then allies of former President Noynoy Aquino and Sec. Mar Roxas.  In this province, Roxas won in the presidential race with 35,000 votes while President Duterte only got 11,000 votes.

She also said the Romualdo supporters stoned the people joining the rally of President Durterte in the 2016 campaign.

According to Mayor Sara, after few months when President Duterte won the presidency, the family of Romualdo sent boxes of lansones for them in Davao City.

Romualdo eventually left the Liberal Party to join the PDP-Laban.

“Nung nagpa-picture sila sa amin, sinabi nila na kaibigan na kami,” she said, telling the Romualdos that he joined the party of Sen. Koko Pimentel and not of President Duterte.

For this election, Jurdin Jesus “JJ” Romualdo will run for congressman while his son current congressman Xavier Jesus “XJ” Romualdo, will run for governor. JJ is with the Nacionalista Party while XJ is under PDP-Laban.

However, Mayor Sara said they will continue helping and supporting the people of Camiguin.

She urged people of this province to support the HNP candidates if they want changes.

The HNP is supporting candidates former MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino; re-electionists Sonny Angara, JV Ejercito, Cynthia Villar and Koko Pimentel; Maguindanao Rep. Dong Mangudadatu; Taguig City Rep. Pia Cayetano; Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos; former journalist Jiggy Manicad; Bong Go; former PNP chief Bato dela Rosa; and former Sens. Bong Revilla Jr. and Jinggoy Estrada.
