PHILIPPINE National Police chief, General Camilo Pancratius P. Cascolan yesterday unveiled to the public the brand-new vehicles, radios and assault rifles procured by the force to further enhance its ‘move, shoot, communicate and investigate’ capabilities.
PNP Director for Comptrollership, Major Gen. Emmanuel Luis D. Licup, also the chairman of the Bids and Awards Committee of the PNP National Headquarters said the newly-procured mobility assets were sourced from the PNP Capability Enhancement Programs (CEPs) 2019 and 2020 and CEP 2019 Balances worth P1.221,601.033.00.
The new equipment are composed of 11 new PNP shuttles buses; 22 units of high-speed tactical watercrafts; 355 units of single-cab 4×2 patrol jeeps; 5,767 units of Galil Ace 22N caliber 5.56mm Basic Assault Rifles; and 214 units of VHF Low-band hand-held radios.
Gen. Cascolan said that the 11 shuttle buses will be distributed to the different PNP regional headquarters while the 22 high-speed tactical boats equipped with machine guns will be used by the PNP Maritime Group and the Special Action Force.
The 355 patrol jeeps will be distributed to municipal police stations nationwide.
The PNP chief said that members of the different PNP regional and provincial mobile forces will use the assault rifles while the hand-held radios will be allocated to the PNP Communications and Electronics Service.
Gen. Cascolan was joined members of his Command Group, PNP Deputy Chief for Administration, Lieutenant Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar; PNP Deputy Chief for Operations, Lt. Gen. Cesar Hawthorne R. Binag; and PNP Chief Directorial Staff, incoming Lt. Gen. Joselito M. Vera Cruz Jr. as well as Licup and PNP Director for Logistics, Maj. Gen. Angelito A. Casimiro in yesterday’s presentation of the newly-purchased police equipment.
The officials also accepted two units of 2020 model Toyota Coaster and one Nissan Urvan NV350 cargo shuttle worth P8/17 million donated by the Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association, Inc. headed by retired Army Maj. Gen. Rizaldo B. Limoso to the police force.
